| Argentine politician and president (1916–22, 1928–30), born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He became leader of the Unión Cívica Radical (Radical Party) in 1896 and worked for electoral reform, which, when it came in 1912, ushered him into power as the first Radical president of the Argentine. He was elected again in 1928, but deposed by a military coup. |
