| biography:
| Satirist, lawyer, and prosodist, born in Zaragoza, NEC Spain. He was an Erasmian, influenced by the Encomium moriae in his Censura de la locura humana y excellencias de ella (1598), which sets out to prove that men by reputation ‘sane’ are in fact mad, and vice versa. Some of Mondragón's verse has survived in Carrillo's Itinerarium ordinandorum (1594), and he also published Arte para componer en metro castellano and Prosodia latina en castellano (both 1593). |
