| biography:
| Psychiatrist, born in Augusta, Georgia, USA. For most of his professional career he was associated with the Medical College of Georgia (1937–84). His works include The Mask of Sanity (1946), a highly influential work on the psychopathic personality. With colleague Corbett Thigpen, he wrote Three Faces of Eve (1957), the first exhaustive description of a multiple personality, which was made into a successful film. Less well-known, but equally important, was The Caricature of Love (1957). |
