| biography:
| Playwright and proverb-collector, born in Soria, NC Spain. A schoolmaster who took holy orders, he is considered to be the creator of the auto sacramental in his Farsa sacramental (1520) written in coplas de arte mayor. The subject of this farsa in coplas de arte mayor is the Assumption; the allegorical figures of Appetite and World are among the earliest of their kind. He also wrote a Diálogo del mosquito first published in Valencia (1521) and in facsimile in Barcelona (1951). Cincuenta preguntas bivas con otras tantas respuestas (1550), is a collection of proverbs made by him. |
