| Writer, born in Habelschwerdt, Silesia. He wrote novels, short stories, poetry, and plays which reflect the conflicts of religious people and the search for God. Influenced not only by Naturalism but increasingly by Silesian mysticism, his major work, Der Heiligenhof (1918), is the culmination of all his previous writing. He was much admired by the National Socialists, whom he supported. |
