| Industrial chemist, born in Gaildorf, SC Germany. He emigrated to the USA in 1868, and worked there and in Canada as a chemist in the petroleum industry. He is best known for the Frasch process of extracting sulphur from deep underground deposits by the use of superheated steam. |
