| biography:
| Flemish poet and literary critic, born in Mechelen, NC Belgium. His first collection of nonmetrical poetry, Lenige liefde (1969, Lanky Love), echoes the influence of the Tirade poets. In later works such as Met een klank van hobo (1980, With the Sound of Hobo) and De hectaren van het geheugen (1985, Acres of Memory) a more romantic style is evident. His essays on poetry are collected in Over de troost van pessimisme (1983, On the Comfort of Melancholy), De flaptekstlezer (1992, The Blurb Reader), and Initimiteit onder de melkweg (1994, Intimacy under the Milky Way). |
