| Writer and professor of historic Dutch literature, born in Hilversum, WC Netherlands. Professionally, he is a teacher of historic Dutch literature and an annotator of mediaeval writers, but is also active as a popular writer. His first novel was Zandgrond (1994, Sandy Ground), the story of the main protagonist's attempt to decipher his grandfather's diary as a metaphor for his own search for identity. Other works include essays about the Dutch people and their peculiarities, collected in Het Nederlandse onbehagen (1991, Dutch Discomfort). |
