| biography:
| Flemish writer, born in Hamme, NC Belgium. He writes autobiographical stories and novels in which the main character is suffering from mesmerizing narcissism; he attempts to conquer his boredom and frustrations by means of alcohol, sex, and superficial and humorous observations. His tendency to exaggerate and use irony is also found in his literary columns and critical works, which have been collected in De geschiedenis van de Vlaamse letterkunde (1988, History of Flemish Literature). |
