| Writer, born in Linz, N Austria. His short stories depict the isolation of the individual and the problems of personal relationships. They include Böse, schöne Welt (1957), Der Urgrossvater (1964), and Sozusagen Liebesgeschichten (1964), and betray a sombre view of the world. He also wrote the radio play Woran wir leben und woran wir sterben (1960), and poetry Verlorene Funde (1976). Among his awards are the Prix d'Italia (1957) and the Georg-Mackensen-Preis (1971). |
