| biography:
| Television science educator and producer, born in Waconia, Minnesota, USA. He served as a pilot in the US Air Force during World War 2, then began radio work in Chicago, where he combined his interest in science and drama. He created and starred in Watch Mr Wizard (1951–65, 1971–2), an informal educational television programme that popularized scientific principles by demonstrating simple experiments. He also produced the adult science series How About (1979–86). |
