| Physicist, born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, then taught at Stanford (1956–61) before returning to MIT in 1961. He shared the 1990 Nobel Prize for Physics with Richard Taylor (1929– ) and Jerome Friedman (1930– ) for their experiments confirming the existence of quarks. |
