| Engineer and manufacturer, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He began his career during the Civil War, supervising the installation of ship engines and machinery. In 1868 he was made a partner at the Yale Lock Manufacturing Co and became president (1869–1915). He introduced modern manufacturing processes to the lock industry. |
