| Athlete, born in Nandi Hills, Kenya. In 1978 he won gold medals in the 3000 m and 5000 m at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Canada, and the steeplechase and 10 000 m at the African Games. In the same year he also set three world records: 13:08·4 s in the 5000 m steeplechase, 8:05·4 s in the 3000 m steeplechase, and 27:22·4 s in the 10 000 m. He improved his 5000 m record to 13:06·20 in Norway in 1981. |
