| Businessman and museum founder, born in Winterthur, Delaware, USA. The son of Henry Algernon du Pont, he studied at Harvard (1903 BA), and became a director of the family chemical business, E I du Pont de Nemours & Co, Wilmington, DE (1915–69). He is most noted for founding the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum (1951) that features displays of early American decorative arts, furniture, and horticultural gardens. |
