| Rabbi, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He studied at the University of Cincinnati and Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, and was one of the first four rabbis ordained in the USA (1883). Rabbi of Rodeph Scholem Synagogue in Philadelphia (1892–1922) and founder of the Jewish Chautauqua Society (1893), he also wrote popular religious literature. |
