| biography:
| Playwright, columnist, and novelist, born in Orléans, C France. His father was Hubert Lavedan (1828–1904), editor of the Correspondant and contributor on Le Figaro under the name of Grandlieu. Henri's plays include Le Prince d'Aurec (1894), Mam'zelle Vertu (1885), Les Marionettes (1895), Le Nouveau jeu (1898), and Le Duel (1905), and he collaborated with Lenôtre on Varennes (1904) and Sire (1909), which won acclaim for the actor Le Bargy. He also wrote a novel in the manner of Eugène Sue, Le Chemin du Salut (17 vols, 1920–5), and was a columnist for L'Illustration. In 1898 he was admitted to the Académie Française. |
