| Writer, born in La Chapelle d'Angillon, Sologne, NC France. He became a literary journalist in Paris, and was killed in the vicinity of Epargue, near Verdun, soon after the outbreak of World War 1. He left a semi-autobiographical fantasy novel, Le Grand Meaulnes (1913, trans The Lost Domain), now considered a modern classic. |
