| Writer, born in Rüstringen, Wilhelmshaven, NW Germany. In his experimental poetry he discarded the rules of grammar and metre, especially in his Textbüchern (11 vols, 1960–87). He was a member of the German PEN club and was awarded the Georg-Büchner-Preis in 1969 and the Großer Österreicher Staatspreis in 1990. |
