| biography:
| German publicist and politician, born in Mönchmotschelnitz, Silesia. Co-founder of the Nationalsozialer Verein and the Demokratische Vereinigung, he was a radical pacifist during World War 1, and fought against right-wing radicalism and militarism in the Weimar Republic. He was founder-member of the Deutsche Friedensgesellschaft, chairman of the Deutsche Liga der Menschenrechte, and editor-in-chief of the Die Welt am Montag. In 1933 he emigrated to Austria and then to France. |
