| Psychoanalyst, born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She gained her MD at Yale University (1930), then taught and conducted research at Columbia University (1931–9). She made major contributions to psychosomatic theory and holistic medicine, and was an instructor at the New York Psychoanalytic Institute (1941–9). A practising clinician, she wrote four books, including Psychiatry in the Medical Specialties (1959). |
