| Novelist, born in Yorkshire, N England, UK. She studied at Oxford University, then worked in newspaper and television journalism, producing documentaries for Comic Relief in Ethiopia, Sudan, and Mozambique. This provided her with the inspiration for her first work of fiction, Cause Celeb (1994). However it was her comic novel Bridget Jones's Diary (1996, filmed 2001) - originally a weekly newspaper column about the fictional life of a single woman - that brought her enormous success. A sequel appeared as Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2000). |
