| biography:
| Poet, probably born in Mügeln by Oschatz, EC Germany. In 1358–9 he wrote two Hungarian chronicles for Emperor Rudolf IV of Austria. In 1360 he was present at the court of Karl IV in Prague, for whom he wrote Der Meide Kranz (1361, The Crown of the Virgin Mary), a philosophical-allegorical poem about the 12 virtues and 12 arts. Ornate in style, it revealed a strong attraction for scholastic philosophy and the influence of early Humanism. |
