| Writer, born in Heidersdorf, E Germany. He trained as a psychiatrist, but then turned to writing and became resident playwright at the Deutsches Theater in East Berlin before moving to West Germany, where he became resident playwright at the Kammerspiele in Munich. One of the major proponents of documentary theatre in Germany, he addressed contemporary problems in his work, which included poetry, short stories, and television and radio plays. He became internationally known with the play In der Sache J Robert Oppenheimer (1964). |
