| Chief Rabbi of Aragón, born in Barcelona, NE Spain. A philosopher, he contributed to the growth of the Renaissance and the overthrow of the Aristotelian system of Ibn Rushd (or Averroes). His major work is Or Adonai (Ferrara, 1555), in the tradition of the school of Nissim Girondí of Barcelona. He also wrote a history of the Aragonese pogrom of 1391, and taught Joseph Albó. |
