| Electrical engineer, born in Edwardsville, Illinois, USA. At General Electric, he developed the Radiola 44, an advanced-design radio receiver. In 1932 he moved to England, where he designed radios and phonographs. During World War 2 he co-invented the Decca radio-navigation system, first used during the invasion of Normandy in 1944. |
