| biography:
| Ballet dancer, choreographer, and director, born in Nieuwer, The Netherlands. He joined Ballet Recital in 1952, moving to Amsterdam Opera Ballet in 1959, and became one of the founding members of Netherlands Dance Theatre (NDT), and its artistic director. In 1973 he left to join the Dutch National Ballet as choreographer and ballet master. His work for NDT includes Symphony in Three Movements (1963), Septet Extra (1973), and Songs Without Words (1977). |
