| Writer, born in Mageland, former Netherlands East Indies. In 1953 he moved to The Netherlands. He made his debut in 1960 in the literary magazine Propria Cures, for which he later became an editor. His work belongs to the neo-realism of the 1970s, describing the tragedy of daily life with ironic overtones. An important recurring theme in his work is his childhood in the former Netherlands East Indies. |
