| Religious painter, born in Seligenstadt, SWC Germany. He lived mostly in Bruges, and was probably a pupil of Rogier van der Weyden. His works include the triptych of the ‘Madonna Enthroned’ at Chatsworth (1468), and the ‘Marriage of St Catherine’ (1479) and the ‘Shrine of St Ursula’ (1489), both at Bruges. He was also an original and creative portrait painter. |
