| Biochemist, born in Augsburg, S Germany. He studied at Berlin, Göttingen and Paris, became lecturer in physical chemistry at Stockholm (1900), and afterwards professor of chemistry and director of the Stockholm Biochemical Institute (1929). He shared the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1929 for research into enzymes and fermentation. |
