| Lawyer and banker, born in Germany. His parents brought him to the USA at age five. He studied at Harvard (1946), and joined the law firm of Shearman & Sterling (1950). He was a partner when he left (1972) to take charge of the lobbying and legal efforts of financial giant, Citicorp, where he became vice-chairman of the board of directors in 1982. |
