| biography:
| Jewish poet, born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She went into hiding during World War 2, and was married to G Reve from 1948 until 1959. In 1949 she published her first work, Klein voorspel (Small Foreplay), which reflects the influence of Vasalis. The central themes in her work are the existentialist loneliness of people and the unfathomableness of fate. Although her poetry is written in plain language, the images and states of consciousness it evokes are rather complex. Her later works include Wegdraven naar een nieuw Utopia (1971, Galloping to a New Utopia). |
