| Writer, born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He is best known as a writer of children's books which are written from the child's perspective. In his much discussed essay Het geminachte kind (1980, The Child in Disdain) he pleads for the autonomous development of the child without any restrictions imposed by adults. Other works include books for adults, icluding Het vogeltje van Amsterdam (1992, The Little Bird of Amsterdam). |
