| Physiologist, born in Wittenberg, EC Germany, the brother of Wilhelm Weber. He became professor of anatomy (1818) and of physiology (1840) at Leipzig, where he devised a method of determining the sensitivity of the skin, introducing the concept of the ‘just noticeable difference’. His findings were expressed mathematically by Fechner (the Weber–Fechner Law of the Increase of Stimuli). |
