| biography:
| Poet and writer, born in Berlin, Germany. He studied graphic art in Berlin, became a freelance writer in East Berlin, and moved to West Germany in 1979. His first poetry, which was influenced by social realism and the work of Bertolt Brecht and Johannes Becher, deals with the Nazis and their legacy, including Wegschilder und Mauerinschriften (1950) and Unter diesem Himmel (1955). His expert command of language is also shown in such prose as Kurze Beschreibung eines Moments der Ewigkeit (1980), Verspätete Monologe (1981), and Fremd daheim (1990). |
