| Film actor, born in Glasgow, W Scotland, UK. He made his debut in Foreman Went to France (1941), and went on to appear in over 60 films, including The Ipcress File (1965) and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1968). He became a household name through his television work as the butler in Upstairs, Downstairs (1970–5) and in The Professionals (1977–81). |
