| Writer, born in Isny, Allgäu, S Germany. He became known through his prose Eine gleichmässige Landschaft (1964) which is set in contemporary Germany and written from a socially critical standpoint. He has written theatre and radio plays, poetry, and novels, including Die Messe (1969), Jesus in Osaka (1970), and Die Augen der Kämpfer (1980–3), as well as children's books. A recurrent theme is that of personal initiative within a consumer society. |
