| biography:
| Italian politician, born in Naples, Campania, SW Italy. He founded the review Progresso delle scienze, delle lettere e delle arti (The Progress of Science, Letters and Arts) in 1832, and joined the Giovine Italia (Young Italy) the following year. He was a deputy of the 1848 Neapolitan parliament, and one of the organizers of the anti-Bourbon risings in Calabria. In 1861 he became a deputy of the left. |
