| Italian politician, born in Trabia, Sicily, S Italy. He was one of the leaders of the 1848 revolutionary risings in Sicily, and led the Sicilian volunteers during the 1st Independence War. He played an important role in the Expedition of the Thousand, and was a deputy of the left from 1861 to 1870. |
