| Painter and architect, born in Rome, Italy. He assisted Raphael in the execution of several of his later works, and in 1524 went to Mantua, where he drained the marshes and protected the city from floods. He also restored and adorned the Palazzo del Te, the cathedral, and a ducal palace. |
