| Writer and playwright, born in Novate Milanese, Lombardy, N Italy. In his early works, Il dio di Roserio (1954), Il ponte della Ghisolfa (1958), La Gilda del MacMahon (1959), La Maria Brasca (1960), and Il fabbricone (1961), he described in a realistic, sometimes raw, language the life of the poor Milanese. His later works Macbetto (1974) and Edipus (1977) explored the meaning of life with religion as a main theme. |
