| Tenor, born in Montagnana, NE Italy. He played in a regimental band before making his debut as a singer in Rossini's Stabat Mater (1910) in Milan. He was engaged by Puccini to sing in the European premiere of La Fanciulla del West (1911), and became a member of the New York Metropolitan Opera (1913–46). |
