| biography:
| Writer and journalist, born in Saluggia, Piedmont, N Italy. He was a member of the scapigliatura literary movement in Piedmont, and with Giovanni Camerana founded the movement's regional newspaper. He wrote historical works such as I fratelli Ruffini. Storia della Giovine Italia (1895–7) progressing eventually to novels including the trilogy Capricci per pianoforte (1778–91) remarkable for its experiments with language. |
