| Poet, born in Milan, N Italy. In 1816 he published a pamphlet, Lettera semiseria di Grisostomo, which became a manifesto of the Romantic movement in Italy. He left Italy to avoid arrest (1821), and lived in exile, mainly in England, until the abortive Revolution of 1848. His best-known works are I Profughi di Parga (1821), Il romito del Cenisio, and Il trovatore. |
