| biography:
| Queen of Naples, born in Naples, Campania, SW Italy, the daughter of Carlo III and Margherita of Durazzo. She succeeded her brother Ladislao to the throne in 1414, and married Giacomo II di Borbone who threw her into jail. A popular rising (1419) forced him to flee and she regained power. She made first Alfonso of Aragón (1421) and then Louis of Anjou (1423) her heir. This caused a contest for her succession which was finally won by Alfonso. |
