| biography:
| Physician and theologian, born in Saluzzo, N Italy, the founder of Unitarianism in Poland and Transylvania. The freedom of his religious opinions compelled him to flee to Geneva in 1556, where he became a member of a Calvinist congregation, but in 1558 Calvin's displeasure at his anti-Trinitarianism drove him to Poland. In 1563 he became physician to John Sigismund, Unitarian Prince of Transylvania. |
