| biography:
| Poet, born in Venice, Veneto, NE Italy. An aristocrat, he wrote highly licentious poems in Venetian dialect which reflected the loose morals of the time. They were circulated in handwritten copies and only published after his death (Raccolta universale delle opere di Giorgio Baffo, 1789). He took part in the controversy on the theatre, siding with Goldoni's opposition in Il filosofo inglese (1754). |
