| Florentine politician. A Guelph aristocrat, he was twice prior of the city (1289, 1293). He was the leader of the popular movement that strove for the Ordinamenti di giustizia (‘justice regulations’) to be implemented (1293). His anti-capitalistic approach earned him the hostility of the major guilds and the grandees, who plotted against him and forced him into exile. |
