| Philologist and literary critic, born in Domodossola, Lombardy, N Italy. One of the most important exponents of stylistic criticism, he taught Romance philology at Florence University. His essays include Un anno di letteratura (1942) and Un'idea di Dante (1976), and he edited a number of anthologies, among them Poeti del Duecento (1960) and Letteratura italiana del Quatrocento (1976). |
