| biography:
| Italian politician, born in Fratta Polesine, NE Italy. A member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, he began to organize the United Socialist Party (1921), and was an outspoken opponent of Mussolini's Fascists (1922–4). His protests against Fascist election outrages led to his murder in 1924, provoking a crisis which nearly brought the Fascist regime to an end. |
